Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been involved in a car crash near the club's Carrington training base.

The Argentinian escaped unharmed following the crash, which happened on the Carrington Spur Road through Ashton.

United's backup 'keeper was pictured standing next to the £170,000 Lamborghini. Videos of Romero's wrecked car have also emerged on social media.

Romero was on his way to Man United training when the incident happened on the A6144 road.

He still made it into training, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

A photo of Romero's car shows the wreck it was left in.

The 32-year-old has acted as David de Gea's backup since joining the Old Trafford side in 2015.

He's proven himself to be a capable reserve choice but hasn't played in the league this season.

Romero has, however, featured in four of United's Europa League matches as well as three times in the League Cup.

He also played in both of the club's FA Cup third-round games against Wolves.

Romero was on the bench for Man United's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, a result that leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side 30 points behind the runaway league leaders.

He arrived on a free transfer from Sampdoria in the summer of 2015, signing a three-year deal at the club.

It initially looked like Romero would enjoy a prolonged spell in the starting line-up but De Gea's proposed move to Real Madrid fell through.

De Gea then re-established himself as United's No.1 and Romero was back on the bench.

The Argentinian did play a major role in the Red Devils' Europa League in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, though.

He was United's cup 'keeper throughout the competition and kept a clean sheet as United defeated Ajax 2-0 in the final.
