'Man Utd fan' calls in to say he might start supporting Liverpool after 2-0 defeat

Manchester United now find themselves 30 points below Liverpool after their defeat at Anfield.

In truth, it seems a little cruel that '#OleOut' was trending after the 2-0 loss on Sunday night, especially when United had the better of the ball for large periods between the Liverpool goals.

Things could have been much different if Andreas Pereira had slid home the ball before half-time or Anthony Martial hadn't bungled a golden opportunity badly wide of the post.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils were always fighting an uphill battle after Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring after 15 minutes and Mohamed Salah ultimately wrapped things up in stoppage time.

The result leaves United five points adrift of the Champions League places and with more defeats than both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United.

Liverpool 2-0 Man Utd

There has been enough victories smattered amongst the defeats to temper calls for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's head, but another shortcoming has seen the discontent resurface.

And for one supporter, falling victim to Liverpool was the final straw and they picked up the phone to give talkSPORT a call to vent their frustrations. Enter 'Joe.'

The supposed United fan remarkably claimed that he'd revoked his season ticket at Old Trafford and was considering converting to Liverpool by putting his name on their waiting list.

Man Utd threatens Liverpool conversion

"I'm giving up my Man United season ticket," the caller explained live on air. "I can't stand it anymore. I can't stand it. Solskjaer is a fraud. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

"I'm considering going on the waiting list at Anfield. I don't care about all that anymore. We don’t even have a player that’s half as handsome as Van Dijk."

That final comment had presenter Danny Kelly doubting that 'Joe' was indeed a supporter but either way, the clip makes for amusing viewing and you can check it out below:

For the sake of everybody at Old Trafford, let's hope 'Joe' isn't actually a former season-ticket holder.

United fans need to take a breather and realise that no matter what they think about Solskjaer, losing to a team that has dropped just two points all season shouldn't change a thing.

But considering there are tens of thousands of English football fans, it's guaranteed that a few of them will make 'plastic' decisions, even if Kelly is probably correct in suspecting it was a prank call.

Besides, in the words of Eric Cantona: "You can change your wife, your politics, your religion. But never, never can you change your favourite football team."
