After winning 21 of their 22 league matches this season, many fans are already calling this Liverpool side the greatest in Premier League history.Jurgen Klopp’s side sit 16 points clear with a game in hand and it looks set to be a procession to the club’s first ever Premier League title. At this rate, they’re going to break every Premier League record there is.They’re on course to smash Manchester City’s 100 points, while they could become the second side to go an entire Premier League campaign unbeaten after Arsenal did just that during the 2003/04 season.Meanwhile, the Reds are still in the FA Cup and Champions League meaning they could still complete the ultimate treble - a feat achieved by Manchester United in 1998/99.

So, how do Liverpool stack up compared to those three aforementioned sides?

Well, Sky Sports News asked their 7.1 million followers ‘Which is the greatest Premier League team?’

More than 300,000 fans voted and you can see the final results below:

So, this current Liverpool side are the greatest Premier League side ever.

They may not have got their hands on the trophy just yet but they're well on course to just that...and in style. After all, they could still pick up a crazy 112 points.

But has recency-bias influenced the votes?

United’s treble-winning side is in second. During the 1998/99 Premier League season, Sir Alex Ferguson’s team only won 79 points, beating Arsenal to the title by a solitary point.

The Red Devils failed to win 16 of their 38 matches having drawn 13 and lost three.

They may have won the FA Cup and the Champions League in dramatic circumstances but should that warrant the second greatest Premier League side in history?

In third is the Invincibles. To go an entire Premier League season unbeaten is an incredible achievement and there’s a reason it’s only been done once. But Arsenal drew 12 matches that season and *only* racked up 90 points.

Then, in fourth and final place in the side that has picked up more points in a single season than any other - Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's team earned 100 points during the 2017/18 campaign, winning 32, drawing four and losing twice as they claimed the title by 19 points.

Not everyone is going to agree on the final rankings but, if judging solely on Premier League performances in a single season, surely City should be first for now. If Liverpool surpass their 100 points, then they would become the greatest Premier League side of all-time.

Then, Arsenal's Invincibles probably deserve third place. While United's treble is historic, we're talking about Premier League's greatest side and only picking up 79 points in that season means they have to settle for fourth in this vote.
