The downward spiral of Matt Hardy in WWE has continued in 2020, and it's through no fault of his own. After a stint partnering Bray Wyatt in 2018, Hardy took some time off to recover from injuries, and he made a triumphant return in February last year with his brother Jeff. They captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the SmackDown after WrestleMania, but they never made a defence as Jeff suffered a knee injury, putting him out of action indefinitely. That left Matt in limbo, and after an appearance in the largest Battle Royal ever at Super Showdown in June, he was not seen for five months, with creative having absolutely zero plans for him.Matt though made a return to singles competition in November, sporting the blonde in his hair that he sported when he portrayed his 'Broken' moniker.

The return though hasn't proved fruitful, losing all three matches he had in the back end of 2019 to Buddy Murphy, Drew McIntyre and Ricochet respectively.

It's not like they're weak opposition, but WWE could have easily used someone else in that particular role, but it seems as though they're punishing Hardy for not signing a new contract.

His deal is thought to expire in March, and there's no signs of him penning a new one anytime soon, so it looks like Hardy is going to continue to lose on television.

Fans are showing apathy towards Matt though, and after yet another loss on Raw last night, this time to Rowan, Hardy trended worldwide on Twitter, which shows you the high number of people talking about his latest defeat.

It's unclear whether or not some parts of it is working to a storyline, but it does look like a reality that Hardy will leave WWE for pastures new in March.

All Elite Wrestling bound? You'd have to expect so, and you'd think that Jeff would follow suit once his deal ends sometime in 2020.

That means we could get to see the Hardy Boyz v Young Bucks as a feud in a top wrestling promotion - now who on earth wouldn't want to see that?!
