Liverpool produce side-by-side video of Pepe Reina and Alisson's celebrations vs Man Utd

Liverpool FC v Manchester United - Premier League

If Liverpool are to win the Premier League this season, Alisson’s celebration for Mohamed Salah’s goal vs Manchester United will go down in history.

The Brazilian goalkeeper assisted the Egyptian in injury-time to make it 2-0 to the Reds before he sprinted the full length of the pitch to be the first to celebrate with the goalscorer with an epic kneeslide.

Incredibly, something very similar happened back in 2009.

Eleven years ago, Liverpool beat Man Utd 2-0 with David N’Gog wrapping up the victory with a breakaway goal at the Kop End in injury-time.

Sound familiar?

The first person to celebrate with N’Gog? Goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

And now, Liverpool’s official Twitter page have created a brilliant side-by-side video of the two goals - and the two celebrations.

It really is uncanny just how similar the two goals are.

But the difference between the Liverpool side in 2009 and the Liverpool side in 2020 couldn’t be more different.

The Reds, under Rafa Benitez, came seventh that season with just 63 points.

This season, they’ve already surpassed that tally with 64 points from a possible 66 and sit 16 clear with a game in hand.

Salah’s goal prompted wild celebrations and it had the fans singing ‘We’re going to win the league’ for the first time this season.

While the fans think that it’s over, Jurgen Klopp certainly won’t allow his players to think that.

"They can sing that," said Klopp.

"I am not here to dictate what they sing. If our fans were not in a good mood now that would be really strange.

"Of course they are allowed to dream and sing whatever they want, and as long as they do their job in the moment we play, all fine. But we will not be part of that party yet."
