Another decision went against Manchester City on Tuesday evening. The Citizens had a golden opportunity to go 1-0 up against Sheffield United in the first half.Riyad Mahrez was felled in the box by Chris Basham and Man City were given a penalty. But Gabriel Jesus struck a poor penalty and Dean Henderson was able to keep his effort out. However, it appears that the penalty should have been retaken.

That's because Henderson was well off his line.

The English goalkeeper gave himself a clear advantage as he was at least a metre off his line. Rules state that he should have at least one foot on the goal-line.

However, the on-field officials failed to intervene and the penalty was not retaken.

Man City can feel really hard done by that. There's no guarantees Jesus would have made up for his miss, but he should have at least got a chance to make amends.

if Henderson was on his line, he may not have even been able to keep out the Brazilian's effort anyway.

Man City need a miracle to catch Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title but decisions like this are really not helping them.

Some have blamed VAR for not intervening, but they do not look at incidents like these.

Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) announced at the start of the season that they would will leave such decisions to the officials.

VAR has gone against Pep Guardiola so many times this season. But it couldn't even be used when he needed it on Tuesday evening.
