Bruno Fernandes gets a clever assist for Braga before completely losing it at full-time

Every time Bruno Fernandes takes to the pitch, we're led to believe it's his last appearance in a Sporting Lisbon shirt.

The midfielder is still not a Manchester United player despite protracted talks between the Red Devils and the Primeira Liga outfit.

According to reports, the two clubs couldn't agree on the Portuguese's valuation and to make matters worse, United tried to include a number of rather ambitious add-on clauses.

Those included only paying a significant portion of his transfer fee if he wins the Ballon d'Or, or if United win the Premier League and Champions League.

In other words, Sporting weren't going to get their money.

That means that after months of links, Fernandes is still donning green and white and while he's continued to impress, signs of frustration are also starting to show.

In Sporting's most recent outing, a 2-1 defeat to Braga, the 25-year notched up another assist for Jeremy Mathieu thanks to some quick thinking from a free-kick, taking nine Braga players out of the game.

The goals were arguably the least memorable scenes of the night, however, as it all ended with a mass brawl. In total, four players were sent off over the course of the game - former Crystal Palace and Everton winger Yannick Bolasie being the first for a horrific challenge.

In stoppage time, tempers flared and Braga's Eduardo Carvalho, as well as Sporting pair Mathieu and Eduardo Henrique were also dismissed.

Unfortunately, those scenes meant what may well prove to be Fernandes' last appearance for the club ended on a sour note and he did not take the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans.

Instead, he stormed down the tunnel, pushed a camera out of his face and was then seen speaking to a policeman.

Perhaps Fernandes didn't conduct himself in the best way, but ultimately, his team had just lost and three of his teammates had received red cards in just over half an hour.

United could certainly do with that sort of passion in their ranks.

The defeat means Sporting are out of the Taca da Liga at the semi-final stage.

The fact they won't be playing the final this weekend could, United will hope, hurry proceedings along.
