For the second year in a row, Asuka will go one-on-one with Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble.

Last year, it was the Japanese star who was putting her title on the line, and she defended that successfully, but this year it's Lynch's Raw Women's Championship that is up for grabs.

But her life was put in danger last night during a trip to Las Vegas, just five days before the Rumble itself.

Last night at 6:15pm local time, a shooting was reported to the police as the Fashion Show Mall, a  shopping centre located on the main Las Vegas strip, per 3lv news

There were three victims of the shooting, all who suffered from gunshot wounds but they were thought to be non-life threatening.

A big shut-down of roads around the Mall occurred and people were told to avoid the area, and one person who was in the Mall at that very moment was the Empress of Tomorrow.

Taking to her official Twitter account, Asuka detailed the moment she heard gunshots fired.

"I just escaped!," Asuka tweeted.

"There was a scream in front of me at #FashionShowMall. It was like shooting. #GUESS near the shooting range protected me.

"I heard screams from outside the door several times after fleeing to GUESS. #FashionShowMall"

Asuka then conversed with fellow Japanese WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura, and said she 'felt far from the parking lot', according to Twitter's translations.

It must have been an incredibly scary moment for Asuka and everyone else inside the Fashion Show Mall at that very moment.

Thankfully for them though, the incident appeared to be isolated and not a threat to the rest of the public.

She may not have been physically hurt, but you never know what kind of mental scarring could occur being so close to gunfire like she was - so let's hope Asuka is all well and good along with everyone else who witnessed the terrible incident.
