N’Golo Kante has officially become a meme after his slip for Chelsea against Arsenal

N’Golo Kante is such a lovable guy that it was hard not to feel a little sorry for him when he slipped during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Tuesday.

The Frenchman, who is one of the most universally-popular footballers on the planet and deservedly so, lost his footing while Gabriel Martinelli was running towards him in the second half.

Arsenal’s young Brazilian forward went on to score past Kepa Arrizabalaga moments later, putting the 10-man visitors back on level terms following Jorginho’s first-half opener.

Kante’s gaffe was compared to Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip and it wasn’t long before the memes began to do the rounds on social media.

However, it goes without saying that Gerrard’s slip was infinitely most costly than Kante’s. The Frenchman’s, in the grand scheme of things, is unlikely to matter all that much. Chelsea drew the game and aren’t challenging for the Premier League title, after all.

Despite that, football fans on social media still viewed Kante’s slip as a chance to have some fun.

Some of them have put their Photoshop skills to the test over the past 24 hours, with some very amusing results.

Here’ are a few of our favourite Kante memes…

And, of course, there’s Kante’s slip to Titanic music…

We love you, N’Golo, but these are funny!

We’re sure he’ll find the funny side too one day – although it’s probably a little too soon right now.

Some Chelsea fans believe Kante hasn’t been at his world-class best recently, but the 28-year-old is still unquestionably one of the world’s best midfielders.

And the World Cup winner will be keen to make amends for his uncharacteristic mistake when Chelsea take on his former club Leicester City on February 1.

Before that, though, the Blues take on Hull City in the FA Cup this Saturday.
