Team GB had double success on the final day of the Winter Youth Olympics thanks to Kirsty Muir's silver medal and Olivia Weedon's bronze.

After placing fourth in the ski slopestyle final, Muir, a freestyle skier, won a silver medal for the women's Big Air competition. Aged 15 she is already a two-time world junior medallist and finished with 170.00 points, just 1.25 points behind the gold medalist - Ailing Eileen Gu of China.

After the event, Muir said: “I’m really happy with how I skied, I aimed for my best tricks and managed to put them down well – I’m just so delighted.

“I’m just so happy (with the silver), Eileen had some amazing runs and she’s a really great skier and was amazing today. I really hope this will inspire some of the younger athletes back at home. I just try to ski how I ski with the hope that it will inspire some people.”

As a result of her performance at the games, she has been asked to carry the flag for Team GB into the closing ceremony in Lausanne. Muir said: "I'm so excited. It's going to be such a cool experience and I'm honoured to be asked. I'm really happy with how I've skied and this is the perfect end to the week and I'm just so proud to represent Team GB."

Muir's fellow teammate Weedon also made it onto the podium today, winning bronze in the short track speed skating mixed country relay. In her team was individual double gold medallist Whi Min Seo as well as Ethan De Rose and Thomas Nadalini.

After her win, Weedon said: “I’m on cloud nine right now – it’s been amazing this whole experience. Even to be in the relay team, I was like yes, that’s my achievement.”

She achieved two personal bests as well as her medal and reflected: “I didn’t expect to come in here and do this at all. I thought that I’d come in, I’d skate well, but I didn’t imagine any of this would happen.

"I’ve never skated with half of these people before, never been in a relay with half of these people before, so just getting to skate with these people and experience how they skate was amazing. You just don’t get a feeling like it.”
