Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been backed by Manchester United’s board following Wednesday night’s dismal 2-0 defeat to Burnley at Old Trafford. The Norwegian boss has overseen United’s worst start to a Premier League season (after 24 games) since 1990.However, Sky Sports are reporting that Ed Woodward and the Glazer family have no plans to sack the under-fire Solskjaer, who has lost the confidence of many of the club’s supporters.Since being appointed United’s permanent manager last March, Solskjaer has won 11 league games, drawn nine and lost 12 - giving him a win percentage of just 34%.The Red Devils subsequently find themselves fifth in the table, six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and 30 behind league-leaders Liverpool. Furthermore, they are just 11 points above 18th-placed Bournemouth.

In his post-match press conference, Solskjaer looked a broken man.

The smile that didn’t leave his face during his spell as the club’s interim manager is now a distant memory.

Here’s Solskjaer at the start of his Man Utd spell…

And this is him now…

The job is so toxic that it’s even managed to age the Baby-Faced Assassin.

Solskjaer isn’t the only manager to age about 15 years after taking the United job. In fact, the same thing happened to David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Here’s Moyesy on his first day, looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed…

And this was the poor bloke nine months later…

Van Gaal was 62 when he was appointed in May 2014, but even the Dutchman looked a lot older than 64 by the time he was sacked.

This was the Dutchman after taking the job…

And this was him a couple of years later…

His successor, Mourinho, was looking typically suave and ready to dominate again when he rocked up at Old Trafford in the summer of 2016…

But less than three years later, the pressures of the job had clearly taken its toll on the revered Portuguese tactician…

A word of advice to Mauricio Pochettino, then: if you want to stay looking reasonably young, don’t become the Man Utd manager.

It’s the most stressful job in world football right now.
