Borussia Dortmund central defender Neben Subotic is receiving growing interest from top Barclays Premier League teams Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea as the summer transfer period grows closer, according to The Metro.

The Serbian centre-back is said to be rated at £20 million, and his current team Borussia Dortmund are currently at the top of the Bundesliga, 12 points clear of second placed Bayer Leverkusen.

Subotic was linked with Chelsea in January, with Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke making clear his intention of keeping the star. “Should there be a fantastic offer dropping in for any player and given this offer would be also of significance for Borussia Dortmund, we would still remain very much unprepared to sell”, he told press at the time.

It seems now that Watzke’s intentions have changed, after he told The Metro he would consider offers if they were of ‘fantastic’ value.

It’s speculated that Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is hoping Subotic will complete a perfect partnership with recent signing David Luiz, and replace John Terry, who will no doubt be winding down his career after reaching 30 last year.

And with Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson rumoured to have a budget of over £100 million to spend in the coming summer transfer period, all top four clubs could well be competing for the defender with the fantastic offers that Watzke is hoping for.
