At the Royal Rumble this Sunday, Brock Lesnar will enter the match at the number one spot and attempt to go all the way and win the entire thing.

WWE fans were shocked at the start of January when Paul Heyman announced that Lesnar would not only be entering the Royal Rumble, but he would be entering the match at the number one spot as well.

Despite his status as WWE Champion, the bookies have The Beast as one of the favourites to win the Royal Rumble match this weekend on January 26 in Houston.

If Lesnar does go on and win the Rumble, he will break and tie some interesting WWE records that will further cement his place in WWE history as one of the best ever.

Here are six WWE records Lesnar could break or tie if he wins the Royal Rumble match this Sunday.

Second WWE Champion to win the Royal Rumble

If Brock Lesnar wins the Royal Rumble this weekend, he will become only the second superstar in WWE history to win the match while still being WWE Champion.

The first superstar to achieve this feat was Hulk Hogan back in 1990. As WWE Champion, Hogan last eliminated Mr. Perfect to win the Royal Rumble that year. However, he would lose the WWE title to The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI.

Third superstar to win the Royal Rumble from the number one spot

If the WWE Champion wins the Royal Rumble this Sunday, he will become only the third superstar in WWE history to win the match after entering the contest in the number one spot.

The other two superstars that managed to accomplish this was Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit. Michaels did it first when he last eliminated the British Bulldog from the Royal Rumble in 1995, while Benoit repeated the feat in 2004 when he last eliminated the Big Show.

Eighth superstar to win at least two Royal Rumble matches

The Beast would become the eighth superstar to win multiple Royal Rumble matches if he wins the Royal Rumble this weekend. His first Rumble win came back in 2003.

Seven superstars to date have won the Royal Rumble match more than once. Hulk Hogan (1990, 1991), Shawn Michaels (1995, 1996), Triple H (2002, 2016), Batista (2005, 2014), John Cena (2008, 2013), and Randy Orton (2009, 2017) have all won the Rumble twice.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is the only superstar in WWE history to have won the Rumble three times (1997, 1998, 2001).

Biggest year gap between Royal Rumble wins

Lesnar's first Royal Rumble win came back in 2003 when he last eliminated The Undertaker to win the match.

If he wins the Rumble again this Sunday, he would have the biggest year gap between Rumble wins in WWE history, a record which is currently held by Triple H as his Rumble wins occurred in 2002 and 2016.

Lesnar's 17 years between Rumble wins would beat The Game's 14 years between Rumble wins.

Longest time spent in a single Royal Rumble

When Mysterio and Benoit won the Rumble from the number one spot, they spent over an hour in the Rumble match. If Lesnar was to win this Sunday, he'll probably do the same, but we'll go one better and say he'll break the record for the longest time spent in a single Royal Rumble.

Daniel Bryan currently holds the record for the longest time spent in a single Rumble, as he spent one hour, 16 minutes, and five seconds in the Greatest Royal Rumble match in 2018.

Hypothetically, The Beast could create history by breaking that record this weekend if he was to win the Rumble and stay in the match for a longer period of time than what Bryan did.

Third superstar not to receive their title opportunity at WrestleMania after winning the Royal Rumble

Another hypothetical Rumble record Lesnar could eventually tie is becoming the third superstar not to receive a title opportunity at WrestleMania after winning the Royal Rumble.

WWE could make the argument that they don't want Lesnar holding a title from Raw and SmackDown since he would likely challenge SmackDown's Universal Champion Bray Wyatt if he wins the Rumble.

His options would be to either relinquish the WWE title and move to SmackDown, or relinquish his title opportunity at WrestleMania and stay on Raw as WWE Champion.

Stone Cold Steve Austin in 1997 was the first superstar to not receive a title opportunity at WrestleMania after winning the Rumble as he re-entered the match that year because the officials did not see when he was thrown out of the ring, so WWE pulled him from his championship match at WrestleMania 13.

The second superstar to not receive a title opportunity at WrestleMania after winning the Rumble was Mr. McMahon in 1999. He renounced his title opportunity as he didn't want to challenge WWF Champion The Rock at WrestleMania XV. Austin was awarded his spot instead.

Lesnar could create WWE history in many different ways if he was to win the Royal Rumble this Sunday. We'll have to wait and see if he is able to get the job done.
