Less than a year after being fined $50,000 from the violent aftermath of his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor has been handed the sum in cash from Dana White after his UFC win over Donald Cerrone.

McGregor had one of the most spectacular performances of his career at UFC 246, beating American fan favourite Cerrone in just 40 seconds

"I made history tonight. I set a new record. I'm the first fighter in UFC history to secure knockout victories at featherweight, at lightweight and now at welterweight - across three weight divisions, so I'm very proud of that.”

McGregor earned the $3 million purse from his brutal victory at UFC 246, which he claimed would rise to around $80 million with his share of the pay-per-view.

The Notorious shared photos of himself and White laughing as the UFC boss gave to him the $50,000 in cash as a bonus for producing one of the performances of the night in Las Vegas.

McGregor was also seen in discussions with UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta as well as White, possibly discussing McGregor’s next opponent.

White said that McGregor is obsessed with a rematch against Nurmagomedov, while Notorious mentioned fights with Tony Ferguson, Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

“I’m telling you right now, Khabib versus Conor is the biggest fight in the sport’s history.

“I just think the Khabib-Conor fight is big for both of their legacies, and obviously for the sport.”

About his UFC 246 win, McGregor said: “The UFC can strip fighters and give to other fighters make-believe belts in order to replicate my 'champ-champ' status.

“But they can't give knockout victories across multiple weight divisions, so there you go again. Etch my name in history one more time.

"I like this weight division. I feel really good. God willing, I came out of here unscathed. I'm in shape. I don't believe I'm there yet, though. I've still got work to do to get back to where I was."

Fans certainly can’t wait for McGregor to get back to where he was, and they are all certainly looking forward to a potential McGregor vs Nurmagomedov rematch.
