It's usually around the Royal Rumble where some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment are linked with the WWE and one usual name is Conor McGregor.

McGregor has ripped into superstars and teased joining the WWE in the past, most notably last April when he congratulated Becky Lynch for winning the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35.

As we approach the Royal Rumble this weekend, it should come as no surprise that some of the bookies believe the UFC fighter could make an appearance in the Rumble match on Sunday.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry admitted that McGregor appearing at the Rumble would be huge for the WWE.

However, he also believes it's unlikely to happen as he thinks Notorious' ego wouldn’t allow him to do anything in the match besides winning the match.

Henry said on Conor McGregor, via Ringside News: “As a businessman, I do think that he could. I would not let my personal feelings for him affect business. That’s just the way I’ve been taught in this business. Do I think that he will be an entrant in the Battle Royal? No.

“Too much ego [he’d] want to win. I just know, I just feel, that he would want to win.

"That will be more important to him than coming in and making a splash and everybody in the ring, stopping, turning to him and walking slowly toward him. And then just rushing him and throwing him out. Which would be just as good as him winning, but he’s too stupid to realize what doing good business is.”

Many UFC fighters, like Ronda Rousey, have made the transition from MMA to WWE in the past have been successful, so as long as McGregor would be willing to work for the business, he would be a success.

However, he's unlikely to step foot inside the squared circle anytime soon due to his recent success inside the Octagon.

Notorious defeated Donald Cerrone with just 40 seconds gone in the first round of their fight at UFC 246 last week. He's now expected to fight either Jorge Masvidal or Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC next, or he could possibly have another boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.

Either way, WWE is going to have to cough up the big bucks if they are to have any hope of signing the former UFC Lightweight Champion to any deal to compete in the squared circle, let alone one where he doesn't win every match.
