Liverpool already have nine fingers on the Premier League trophy.

Barring one of the biggest collapses in sporting history, the Reds will top England's top division for the first time in 30 years and their near-perfect record leaves them on course to make history.

Not only could they beat every single team and clock a record points tally, but they could become just the second team to go an entire Premier League season unbeaten.

The Reds have won 22 and drawn one of their 23 games in 2019/20 and have now gone 40 matches without a defeat, leaving them just nine fixtures short of Arsenal's golden standard.

As a result, the Premier League's longest unbeaten runs have been put under the microscope recently and Squawka decided to look for all 20 teams' lengthiest purple patch.

Every Premier League club's longest run

So, keep scrolling to check out the longest your club has gone without defeat in the world's most competitive league and the tension has been ramped up with every streak ordered by duration.

20. Brighton & Hove Albion - 5 games

Span: October-November 2017; January-March 2018

Ended by: Manchester United (1-0); Everton (2-0)

To be fair to the Seagulls, they've only been a Premier League in recent years and two five-game streaks is nothing to be sniffed at when they've largely been dodging relegation.

United cut short their first party which included a 3-0 away victory at West Ham, while Everton brought their second streak to a close despite having put Arsenal to the sword.

19. Watford - 6 games

Span: December 2019-January 2020

Ended by: Aston Villa (2-1)

If this seems to ring a bell, it's because the streak has only just finished. Fair play to Nigel Pearson for producing Watford's longest run without defeat considering their revolving door of managers.

18. Bournemouth - 7 games

Span: December 2017-February 2018

Ended by: Huddersfield Town (4-1)

This is one of the more bizarre runs on the list when you consider it featured wins over Chelsea and Arsenal, but ended in a thrashing to new-boys Huddersfield, who finished bottom the following season.

17. Sheffield United - 8 games

Span: March-April 1994

Ended by: Aston Villa (2-1)

The oldest streak is also one of the most uneventful as the Blades only amassed two victories - although they came against Liverpool and Arsenal - in their desperate fight to dodge relegation.

16. Crystal Palace - 8 games

Span: November-December 2017

Ended by: Arsenal (3-2)

A round of applause for Roy Hodgson. The Eagles lost their opening SEVEN games in 2017-18, but eventually steered themselves to safety when the ex-England boss masterminded three wins and five draws before Christmas.

15. Burnley - 8 games

Span: December 2018-February 2019

Ended by: Newcastle United (2-0)

Another club that started the season in dire form, Sean Dyche once again turned things around for Burnley with a New Year renaissance that featured a draw at Manchester United and win over Tottenham.

14. Southampton - 9 games

Span: November 2002-January 2003

Ended by: Liverpool (1-0)

Surprisingly, the Saints' greatest streak didn't come during their high-flying days under Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman nor their seven-game clean sheet run with Glenn Hoddle.

Rather, this purple patch from Southampton's first spell as a Premier League mainstay came courtesy of victories over Arsenal and Chelsea, who made up the top two at the time.

13. West Ham United - 10 games

Span: February-May 2016

Ended by: Swansea City (4-1)

It's easy to forget just how incredible the Hammers were during Slaven Bilic's first season and the last at Upton Park, putting Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs to the sword during the spring time.

However, an anomalous thrashing at home to the Swans would ultimately scupper their form at 10 matches and derail any hopes of Champions League qualification.

12. Norwich City - 10 games

Span: October-December 2012

Ended by: West Bromwich Albion (2-1)

Arguably the biggest surprise on the list, we can't decide what catches us off guard more: the fact the Canaries beat United and Arsenal during this period or the fact it was West Brom who ended it all?

11. Wolverhampton Wanderers - 11 games

Span: September-December 2019

Ended by: Tottenham Hotspur (2-1)

It's no surprise given Wolves' Portuguese revolution that their longest streak is so recent and it took a late winner from Mourinho's Tottenham to bring proceedings, which featured a win at the Etihad, to a close.

10. Everton - 11 games

Span: March-August 2010; March-September 2012

Ended by: Blackburn Rovers (1-0); West Bromwich Albion (2-0)

Considering Everton are one of just six clubs to play in every single Premier League season, it's unexpected that their longest run is merely 11 matches, even if they did reach that total twice.

Their first run came at the backend of the 2009/10 season, eventually ended by Sam Allardyce's Blackburn, whereas the second was halted by West Brom in David Moyes' final season.

9. Leicester City - 12 games

Span: February-August 2016

Ended by: Hull City (2-1)

Of course it came during their title-winning season. The Foxes finished 2015-16 unbeaten after losing at the Emirates Stadium, only to suffer a shock defeat at the KCOM Stadium in their first match as champions.

8. Newcastle United - 14 games

Span: May-November 2011

Ended by: Manchester City (3-1)

Ah, yes, the season that saw Alan Pardew almost guide the Toon to the Champions League and boy did they make a strong start, consistently racking up points through the first three months.

It took a City team that eventually won the title and went the entire campaign unbeaten at home to halt their progress, ending the streak at an impressive eight victories and six draws.

7. Aston Villa - 14 games

Span: May-November 1998

Ended by: Liverpool (4-2)

Spanning two campaigns, Villa's run was so impressive that they led the Premier League by the time Liverpool dished out their first defeat and they ultimately finished the campaign down in sixth.

6. Tottenham Hotspur - 14 games

Span: August-December 2015; December 2017-April 2018

Ended by: Newcastle United (2-1); Manchester City (3-1)

It speaks volumes that Tottenham's two 14-game streaks came under Pochettino, the first of which transpiring with a nondescript six wins and eight draws after an opening day loss at Old Trafford.

The second one, however, was far more impressive with wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and United guiding them to 11 wins and three draws on the way to a third-place finish.

5. Manchester United - 29 games

Span: December 1998-October 1999; April 2010-February 2011

Ended by: Chelsea (5-0); Wolverhampton Wanderers (2-1)

There's a huge jump up to United in fifth place and that makes it even more remarkable that they've gone exactly 29 games without defeat more than once.

Their first streak has its footing in the treble-winning season, although it ended in humiliating style at Stamford Bridge, while the second saw the Red Devils make it to February without a single loss in the 2010-11 season.

4. Manchester City - 30 games

Span: April 2017-January 2018

Ended by: Liverpool (4-3)

Having rounded off the 2016/17 season with six wins and two draws, the Citizens flew out of the blocks after the summer and sparked speculation that Pep Guardiola could lead them to invincibility.

It was a justified suspicion considering they won 20 of their opening 22 matches, but Liverpool would ultimately prove their kryptonite during a back-and-forth battle on Merseyside.

3. Chelsea - 40 games

Span: October 2004-November 2005

Ended by: Manchester United (1-0)

A 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium was the only defeat that Mourinho's Chelsea suffered during the 2004-05 campaign, collecting the Premier League title and conceding just 15 goals along the way.

They eventually defended their crown the following season, but defeat at Old Trafford after 12 games proved the Blues' mortality and meant Arsenal fans could breathe a sigh of relief.

2. Liverpool - 40 games

Span: January 2019-Present day

Ended by: N/A

Ah, the reason we're even talking about this list. Liverpool's win at Molineux means they've drawn level with that legendary Chelsea side and they're now just nine games away from going all the way.

The Reds have astonishingly lost just one game over the last two seasons, going the remainder of 2018/19 unbeaten and making the greatest ever start to a European campaign in 2019/20 with 22 wins from 23 games.

1. Arsenal - 49 games

Span: May 2003-October 2004

Ended by: Manchester United (2-0)

The gold standard. Arsenal might not have won the most games; collected the most clean sheets or bagged the most goals, but their near-half-century of invincibility remains a gem of footballing history.

Spanning three seasons, even if Liverpool do move to 50 games unbeaten, they will have to keep pushing to join Arsenal as the only club to go an entire Premier League campaign without a single loss. Mental.

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that Liverpool might actually do it...

When you look at their fixture list after overcoming the tough trip to Wolves, the only major hurdle appears to be their excursion to the Etihad, the sight of their only defeat last season.

I'd originally thought that Guardiola would be so pumped for the game that they would upset the applecart, but I've seen enough chinks in City's armour to suggest Liverpool will at least get a draw.

If that's the case, they'll make it 49 games unbeaten and I can't see Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle taking any points off them.

The 'Invincibles' will always be invincible, but Liverpool just might be that extra bit, well, invincible.
