If it wasn’t clear to us all already, today’s events at the Australian Open have proven that there really is no limit to the capabilities of the legendary Mr. Roger Federer.

Adding yet another accolade to his full-to-bursting book of records, the Swiss maestro has today become the first tennis player to win 100 singles matches at two different Grand Slams.

Back in July 2019, Federer secured an unprecedented 100th Wimbledon victory in style, overcoming the talented Kei Nishikori 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals on Centre Court.

When questioned by the media about that achievement, he remained as humble as ever, saying: "A hundred wins here at Wimbledon… who would have thought? I didn't, for sure."

And now, to the surprise of no one, King Roger has put his status at the top of world tennis beyond all doubt – by replicating the same feat at yet another Grand Slam!

Earlier today, Federer achieved his 100th Australian Open win, battling Australia’s own John Millman all the way to a fifth-set championship tiebreak in Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

In an extraordinary encounter, the hometown underdog almost spoilt the party, capitalising on an unusually high 82 unforced errors from Federer throughout the match – 48 of them off the forehand.

But unlike Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka before him, the mighty Federer proved too resilient to succumb to the upset bug which has swept this year’s Aussie Open.

Drawing on the strength that has seen him secure professional victories on Aussie soil for over 20 years, Federer won six points in a row to overturn a massive 8-4 deficit in the deciding tie-break.

The Swiss maestro will now progress to the fourth round to face Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics, and continue his mission to build on yet another remarkable record – namely, his 20 Grand Slam titles.

At 38 years old, Federer's status as the best in the business still cannot be denied!
