Cristiano Ronaldo is simply one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Some will argue he reigns supreme, while others will contest that Lionel Messi deserves that crown, but there's no denying the achievements and brilliance of Ronaldo.

Scoring goals for fun, winning trophies at both club and international level, the Portuguese superstar has done it all - and he's still going strong with Juventus at the age of 35.

However, one side of his game that is often downplayed is his ability to tee up his teammates.

Throughout his career, there have been instances of Ronaldo appearing to show dismay at a colleague scoring - most notably Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.

But one look at Ronaldo's assist stats for both club and country tells a very different story.

With Transfermarkt providing the numbers, we can now reveal that the Portuguese has registered more assists for club and country than both Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

With Juventus, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo has - at the time of writing - scored 620 goals and assisted 214 more.

On the international stage with Portugal, the great man has 99 goals and 37 assists, taking his assist tally to 251 overall.

So what about the Barcelona legends? Well, with the Blaugrana and Al Sadd, Xavi recorded 212 assists in 859 games, adding a further 24 in 131 appearances for the Spanish national team.

A total of 236 for arguably the greatest central midfielder of his generation.

As for Iniesta, the playmaker supreme only managed 150 assists in 715 games for Barcelona and Vissel Kobe, with only 29 more coming in his 131 matches for Spain.

Surprising numbers, eh?

Of course, Xavi and Iniesta's legacies are far more than just numbers on a website; they were the greatest midfield partnership of all-time.

But the data has to reinforce the point that Ronaldo's ability to setup his teammates, as well as score a plethora of goals, is magnificent and it's only bettered by Messi.

The Argentine is currently on 690 goals and 298 assists at the age of 32, outrageous numbers.

His ability to balance finding the back of the net and create may never be seen again.
