February 22nd, 2020 will see two of boxings best heavyweights square off once again, as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have their rematch, after their first fight ended in a draw, which judges scored 113-113.

However, it has been rumoured for some time now, that the winner of this bout will go on to face Anthony Joshua at a later date, with Eddie Hearn also revealing that he’d received an offer to have the fight in Saudi Arabia.

This comes after ‘Clash on The Dunes’ was a success for Joshua as he regained his heavyweight titles from Andy Ruiz Jr in their rematch.

Earlier this week, whilst talking to iFL TV, Eddie Hearn stated that any potential fight between Joshua and either Fury or Wilder will need to have a purse that would be split 50/50 between the fighters.

However, it would seem that Joshua does not agree with this. This comes after AJ also spoke to iFL TV, he responded to Eddie’s comments about the fight needing to have a 50/50 split by saying:

"What’s his reasoning? I don’t understand why it should be at the minute, I can say I made the biggest comeback of last year and I’d like 70%, but in reality I know that’s not the case.”

Although, it would seem that boxing fans aren’t in agreement with AJ, with one Twitter user bringing up the point that AJ has said; “I don’t fight for money, I fight for legacy” with the tweet further stating; “Joshua straight back at it talking about money…..AGAIN.”

Which would seem quite contradictory of Joshua’s legacy over money statement.

Another Twitter user commented that because of AJ’s demands for 70% of the cut, that this fight will never happen.

A Joshua fan responded to those disagreeing by saying;

“Again he’s 100% right, AJ’s earnt his position as the A side on the negotiation tables by fighting top competition back to back and generating the most money in the division.”

Whilst we can only wait to see the result of the rematch, we can only assume that talks between the three fighters’ teams have been held, with what could lead to one of boxing’s biggest ever matchups.
