Conor McGregor has this week paid tribute to UFC legend Chuck Liddell; this came after a viral photo of the pair together surfaced online.
Liddell received his UFC Hall of Fame jacket at UFC 246 fight week – the same week McGregor made his triumphant return to the Octagon by defeating Cowboy Donald Cerrone.
McGregor took to Instagram to pay homage to Liddell by uploading a photo of the pair at a UFC event some years back with Conor weighing in with Liddell in the crowd.
Conor captioned the picture with:
“Thank you @ChuckLiddell! Your work inside the UFC’s famed Octagon inspired me to chase my own fighting dreams, and for that I am forever grateful to you!
"Thank you and big congrats on your hall of fame entry #ProperUFCOG”.
This came after Liddell had backed Cowboy to defeat Conor at UFC 246 stating:
“I think if Cowboy can come out and convince him he’s going to take him down, get after him, and get him guessing whether or not they’re going to go up or down, I think Cowboy can do it.
“He’s always going to be tough. He’s always going to be a tough striker”, Liddell referring to McGregor.
“But people have that question whether or not he’s been struggling with some issues lately. Is he really back? As strong as he was?
“I’m a big fan of Cowboy. I’m hoping he comes out with the win.”
Conor McGregor is ‘Notoriously’ known for his antics in and out of the Octagon, however, it has to be said there seemed to be a real sense of sincerity with his most recent congratulations of Liddell – the pair go way back and were both in good spirits before Conor’s comeback fight at UFC 246.
McGregor looks set to fight again this year with his first win of 2020 already recorded, the question is who, when and where.News Now - Sport News
