Atalanta might just be the most underrated team in Europe right now.The Italian outfit made the headlines late last year when they defied the odds to reach the Champions League last-16 after a dismal start to their group campaign.Their 3-0 win away at Shakhtar Dontesk on the final matchday was fairytale stuff and they will meet Valencia in the knockout stage. But how are they doing over in Serie A you ask? They're doing brilliantly. Okay, they cannot compete with Juventus and Inter Milan right at the top, but they're sitting very pretty in fifth. They've scored 57 goals in their 21 games, with seven of those coming last night away at Torino. That's right, they won 7-0!

Slovenian forward Josip Ilicic scored a hat-trick and the second of his three-goal haul is one of the best displays of innovation we've seen in football for quite some time.

The referee whistled for a free-kick to Atalanta for a handball by a Torino player a few yards away from the halfway line.

With the ball stationary and Torino defenders backing off, Ilicic acted, sprinting towards the ball and sending it straight over the head of Salvatore Sirigu.

To have the audacity to try such a thing - and pull it off - deserves some kind of award. What a goal!

Genius. The Torino defenders were quickly in the ear of the referee to try and disallow the masterpiece, but sadly for them, Ilicic's actions broke no rules.

Just when you think you've seen it all in football, a player goes and blows your mind like that.

You can bet that no team will be able to take a quick free-kick against Torino for the foreseeable future.

Ilicic is having quite the season in Serie A, with his treble on his 100th appearance for Atalanta taking him to 13 league goals in just 17 games.

The 31-year-old is thriving at the age when others decline. Maybe Manchester United should be on the phone to his agent...
