It must be fantastic being a Manchester City fan right now.

Years of struggles in the Football League have been replaced by years of dominance since the Abu Dhabi United Group takeover in 2008.

World-class players have joined and plenty of trophies have been won.

But no matter how much they spend in the transfer market, you can’t buy fans.

Historically, City aren’t a ‘big’ club.

That much can be proved by the fact they often fail to sell out their 55,000 capacity Etihad stadium.

And that was very evident during their fourth round FA Cup clash against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The top tier in one of the stands was left completely empty, while there was another empty section next to the Fulham supporters.

And football fans were quick to mock City for their poor attendance:

This is an incredible era in City’s history but it seems fans aren’t exactly excited about coming to watch the side in the FA Cup in which they're the holders.

In truth, the tie was effectively over after just six minutes when Tim Ream was shown a straight red card for a professional foul on Gabriel Jesus. The Fulham defender was dismissed and City were awarded a penalty.

Ilkay Gundogan stuck it away and, ten minutes later, it was 2-0.

Bernardo Silva twisted and turned on the edge of the box and fired in a brilliant effort past Marek Rodak.
