Atletico Madrid hosted Leganes in La Liga on Sunday afternoon, desperately searching for a win. Diego Simeone's side are in a bit of a rough patch. They were embarrassingly knocked out of the Copa del Rey midweek by third-tier side Cultural Leonesa and recently lost to rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. So a home fixture against 19th place Leganes was the perfect opportunity to get back on track, right? Well, not exactly.

Atletico just couldn't find a breakthrough and had to settle for a 0-0 draw, meaning they're falling further behind the top two, Barcelona and Real.

Although, Los Rojiblancos' failure to score wasn't the most embarrassing thing about Sunday's game.

Leganes goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar was sent off for time-wasting in injury time when he fell to the floor after being lightly pushed by a ball boy. Check out the clip below:

Oh dear. That's utterly ridiculous behaviour. Imagine being a professional footballer and getting floored by a kid.

Thankfully the referee saw past Cuellar's antics and rightly showed him a second yellow card for time-wasting.

The madness didn't end their though. The Spaniard caused more trouble as he clashed with Alvaro Morata and Jan Oblak while refusing to leave the pitch.

Eventually, he did make his way down the tunnel. But by that time, it was far too late for Atletico to test the outfield player who was forced to play in goal for the final few seconds.

After failing to get the win, the pressure seems growing on Madrid manager Simeone.

It seems unlikely they will catch Barca and Real at the top of La Liga, while the Spanish club also face a very tough test against Liverpool in the Champions League

Now Atletico have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey too, it seems it could be another trophy-less season for the club. Will Simeone survive that? Perhaps not.
