It's become a tradition now that whoever wins the Royal Rumble match, whether it be the men's or women's match, they must point at the WrestleMania sign.

It's been a part of the Royal Rumble match for years, and last year's winners, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, certainly kept the tradition alive.

The winners of this year's Rumble tonight at Minute Maid Park in Houston are expected to do the same, and some fans believe WWE is asking their superstars to do it each year.

Speaking to BT Sport, Triple H revealed WWE doesn't ask their superstars to point at the sign, and he looked back as well at a moment in 2008 where himself and John Cena did the sign pointing in the Rumble.

He said, via Wrestling Inc: "It's funny now, fans say they're going to give the point at the sign like this is a hooky thing that has happened over the years and we tell everybody to point at the sign, we don't tell anybody to point at the sign.

"This is what everybody wants to do, you want to have the moment that you watched when you were a fan, man I get that opportunity to point at the sign at WrestleMania, I get that opportunity to be the guy that is going there."

Unfortunately for The Game in 2008, Cena would go on to eliminate him last to win the Rumble that year.

Following his first Rumble win in 2002, Triple H would have to wait 14 years in order to win his second Rumble match.

In 2016, Triple H last eliminated Dean Ambrose to not only win the Rumble, but also the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as the title was put on the line in the match that year.

Now, every year like clockwork, the winner of the men's and women's Royal Rumble point at the WrestleMania sign in order to start the hype for their title matches at the Showcase of Immortals.
