Liverpool will have to do it all over again after drawing 2-2 to Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup on Sunday.Jurgen Klopp named a weakened starting line-up for the trip to face the League Two side but introduced Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino after watching his side throw away a 2-0 lead. But neither Salah or Firmino was able to find a goal that would ensure Liverpool wouldn’t have to play a replay. The Egyptian was introduced with 10 minutes to go for Joel Matip, a clear sign that Klopp wanted to find a winner. But his first involvement in the contest was pretty calamitous.

Salah, trying to escape from a dangerous position close to Liverpool’s goal, looked up and spotted a red figure on the right.

What the forward didn’t realise, however, was that that figure was Matip, who was walking on the touchline towards the dugout.

Brilliant.

The gaffe was reminiscent of Renato Sanches’ while playing for Swansea City in 2017.

In a game against Chelsea, the Portuguese midfielder passed to a Carabao advertising board after mistaking the red logo for a teammate, with Swansea wearing an all-red kit.

And we can’t forget the time Peterborough United’s Michael Bostwick passed to a steward in 2016.

Posh were wearing a fluorescent green strip - the same colour as the steward’s jacket.

Bostwick will be pleased to see that it can happen to anyone.

Liverpool will now host Shrewsbury in a replay after squandering a 2-0 lead against the Shrews.

Curtis Jones put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute and an own goal from former Manchester United defender Donald Love made it 2-0 early into the second half.

But Shrewsbury weren’t ready to go down without a fight and two goals from Jason Cummings - one from the penalty spot - earned them a trip to Anfield.
