Gabriel Martinelli has Arsenal fans buzzing with excitement right now. Seven days ago, he put in a Man of the Match performance against London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Not only did the Brazilian score an important goal, but he inspired the 10-man Gunners to an unlikely draw - despite being just 18 years of age. Martinelli has been tipped for massive things after bursting onto the scene this season. He's already netted 10 goals in 21 games and has really stepped up in the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has just finished serving a three-match ban.

But not everyone is convinced by the teenage starlet. In fact, talkSPORT drive presenter Adrian Durham believes Martinelli will become the Premier League's next big flop.

"Do you know who he reminds me of, remember Federico Macheda?" Durham said.

"It's the same sort of thing. [Macheda] had a blinding start, everybody thought he was a gem, but he ended up at Cardiff."

As well as drawing comparisons with Macheda, Durham also suggested that Martinelli's goal against Chelsea was lucky.

"This goal at Chelsea, two things happened. [N'Golo] Kante slipped. But before that, Martinelli's first touch [off his knee] was horrific.

"So please don't give me that Brazilian Ronaldo nonsense. When did he ever take a touch like that?"

Absolutely brutal. Does Durham seriously believe that, or is he just trying to cause controversy and spark debate?

We've got to hope it's the latter. There is a danger that Martinelli could burn out quickly, but it really doesn't look likely.

He's already scored 10 goals for Arsenal this season while Macheda - the player he's being compared to - managed just five in six seasons at Manchester United.

The fact he's started so bright and has even grown his performances over the course of the season suggests that Martinelli is on a path to greatness, not obscurity.
