Drew McIntyre may have won the 2020 Royal Rumble match, but for the first half of the bout, the only man people were talking about was Brock Lesnar.

Entering at number one, the WWE Champion went on to eliminate 13 straight superstars as he picked them off one-by-one.

The Scottish Psychopath ended up taking Brock out though, and just 24 hours later a WrestleMania 36 main event between the two was confirmed.

Lesnar may have broke records and got people talking, but there's one man that he didn't come face-to-face with in the ring that fans wanted him to meet.

It has been no secret to wrestling fans that NXT star Matt Riddle wants to retire Brock Lesnar, as he's said so himself in multiple interviews.

Both Riddle and Lesnar have forged careers in the UFC and WWE, and many fans expected their paths to cross in the Rumble match - but Riddle entered at number 23, around 10 minutes after Lesnar departed.

Earlier in the night though, it had been reported that the two men had gotten into a 'verbal altercation' backstage, with Lesnar approaching the King of Bros to discuss the 'reality of the situation'.

TalkSPORT's Alex McCarthy has now shed some more light on the confrontation, and it's set to disappoint fans that want to see the two former MMA stars go at it in a WWE ring.

Lesnar reportedly grabbed Riddle's shoulder and said: “Kid, you might as well stop saying my name and tagging me in s**t because you and I will never work together. Ever.”

That comment will probably be a real kick in the teeth to Riddle, who has pushed his agenda against Lesnar so far, and it will probably be a downer for fans who wanted to see that match happen.

Brock may change his stance though should enough people want to see it, or if Riddle gets into a position on the main roster where he becomes a huge star in his own right.

After all, we know what Brock loves best, right? That sweet smell of cold, hard cash...
