Bruno Fernandes' move to Manchester United is nearing completion.

After missing out on the Portuguese playmaker in the summer, the Red Devils have finally caved in and met Sporting Lisbon's demands for the talented star.

United will pay a basic fee of £46.5m for Fernandes, with another £20m to potentially come in add-ons.

It's a sizeable fee, but at least Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been able to save - by their own standards - some pennies on the Portuguese's wages.

According to the Guardian, Fernandes' basic wage will stand at £70,000-a-week, which is pretty darn low for United.

Don't forget, this is an institution that signed a deal to hand Alexis Sanchez £500,000-a-week.

Fernandes will actually earn quite a bit less than some of United's most comedic figures.

As per Spotrac, Jesse Lingard (£75k-a-week), Phil Jones (£75k-a-week), Eric Bailly (£80k-a-week) and Nemanja Matic (£120k-a-week) will all be earning more than the impending new arrival.

Juan Mata (£160k-a-week) will be pocketing over double Fernandes' salary, despite the fact the Portuguese will all but certainly outrank him in Solskjaer's pecking order.

If the 25-year-old comes in and hits the ground running at Old Trafford, you can bet he'll be knocking on the manager's door for a raise.

But it's not just a host of United players that will be pocketing more than Fernandes for the foreseeable future.

Max Meyer (£125k-a-week), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£100k-a-week), Jack Wilshere (£100k-a-week) and Ross Barkley (£100k-a-week) will all be collecting mightier payslips every seven days.

Even Mason Mount's new deal at Chelsea has seen him boosted to £75k-a-week, despite playing less than a full season of top-flight football.

Ed Woodward has actually negotiated a decent salary deal for United - it's a miracle!
