There was more drama for Barbora Strycova at the Australian Open today as the Czech star demanded to speak to a supervisor during her doubles semi-final.

Strycova who was playing in the women’s event with partner Hsieh Su-Wei reacted furiously after umpire Bloom allowed the pairing of Krejcikova/Siniakova to challenge a line call after two more shots had been played.

A heated exchange then ensued between Strycova and Bloom which involved the Czech star angrily telling the umpire “you know I’m right” and calling the tournament referee on court.

Strycova’s partner Hseih said she did not want to involve herself in the dispute and Strycova herself admitted the situation had escalated.

“Well…at the end a little bit it was a catfight,” Strycova explained. “This is how it is sometimes.”

Fortunately Strycova’s clash with the umpire did not affect the result of the match and the pair continued their progress to the final of the competition.

This was not the first umpire incident Strycova has had and during her mixed doubles match with Marcelo Melo she faced off with another umpire.

In this instance Strycova was incensed by rival Bethanie Mattek-Sands moving to challenge a call then pulling out.

In the following conflict Strycova argued she and her partner had been put off by the move and the umpire subsequently awarded the pair the point.

However, Mattek-Sands and her partner Jamie Murray contested the point with Murray particularly aggrieved by losing the point.
