Everton have reportedly rejected a stunning £85 million bid from Barcelona for Brazilian forward Richarlison. The wild rumour comes from Sky Sports, who claim Everton want to keep hold of one of their prized assets.Richarlison has impressed this season, netting 10 goals for the Toffees, and has been linked with a move for Manchester United. But Barca apparently made their move with an eye-watering bid for the 22-year-old.

The Spanish giants have been keeping an eye on the Brazilian for some time and enquired about his availability last summer, but Everton knocked back their advances.

Sky Sports’ report claims that Barcelona’s sporting director Eric Abidal, believes that Richarlison would complement Luis Suarez’s style of play.

Suarez has had surgery on a knee injury that will keep him out for four months.

Richarlison would face serious competition for places, though, with Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and, of course, Lionel Messi, starring at the Camp Nou.

The Everton forward was signed by Everton for £50m in 2018, arriving from Watford for a fee that many thought was too high.

He’s been a fine signing though, netting 21 goals in 57 Premier League games.

Age is also on his side and Suarez’s decline in form, along with his age, has heightened Barcelona’s need for a new striker.

They have been linked with a move for Inter Milan hotshot Lautaro Martinez, with TNT Sports reporting that they preparing a £100m offer for the 22-year-old.

Argentine forward Martinez is enjoying a brilliant season, netting 16 goals this season and forming a potent attack with Romelu Lukaku.
