The Royal Rumble matches normally throw up a few surprise returns every year - and 2020 was no exception. The likes of Mighty Molly and Beth Phoenix came back for the women's match, and in the men's equivalent, the Rated-R Superstar Edge stole the whole show after a nine-year absence. But another return in the main event went a little bit under the radar, and that was Montel Vontavious Porter. The 46-year-old, who now resides in Houston, made his WWE comeback in the city as the number 12 entrant, only lasting less than a minute before being dumped over the top rope by Brock Lesnar. It was hinted at on social media days before that MVP would be returning as his entrance graphics were spotted being tested from outside Minute Maid Park, but no-one really knew how long he'd be sticking around for.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that he would only be returning short-term, per WrestleTalk, but MVP has surprisingly confirmed that he is already done working with the company.

Posting on his official Instagram page, MVP stated that he'd taken part in his final WWE match against Rey Mysterio on Monday Night Raw, and it was a 'great way' to close that chapter in his life.

MVP made the point of saying his wrestling career isn't over at all, but his WWE one is, and it appears the main reason for his brief return was so that his son could see him in a WWE ring.

And it appears that his son is a huge fan of Mysterio, which is probably the reason why MVP was granted a final WWE match against the Master of the 619 on Monday night.

Aside from taking a dodgy-looking 619 from Mysterio, MVP looked good in the ring and there's every chance he may have turned down a longer deal from WWE.

But he had a great tenure with the company - a two-time United States Champion and a Tag Team Champion with Matt Hardy, alongside being a natural entertain means that he will be remembered by WWE fans for a long time!
