Nike and Adidas are by far the two biggest designers in sport.

The majority of the world's best footballers are sponsored by one of the two companies.

But who would win if the best Adidas XI played the best Nike XI in a one-off game in football?

ESPN posted the two teams on social media and here's what the two teams look like...

Nike XI: Lloris, Carvajal, Ramos, Van Dijk, Davies, Modric, Thiago, De Bruyne, Mbappe, Ronaldo, Neymar

Adidas XI: Ter Stegen, Azpilicueta, De Ligt, Laporte, Alba, Bernardo Silva, Kante, Pogba, Salah, Firmino, Messi

On paper, the Nike XI looks like they have the edge.

They have strong defenders in the shape of Sergio Ramos and Virgil Van Dijk.

They have the world's best midfielder in Kevin De Bruyne, while a front three of Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar is frightening.

Adidas XI don't appear to be as strong, but they do have Lionel Messi meaning anything is possible.

You can speculate all you want about which team would win. But we've decided to use Football Manager 2020 to simulate the result of the game.

For the sim, Nike XI was represented by Real Madrid, while Adidas XI was represented by Barcelona. It's important to note that the choice of real teams does not matter at all.

The game was played at a neutral ground. Neither side was allowed to make substitutions. Tactics were similar, although Adidas XI played with an attacking midfielder rather than three centre-midfielders. This was simply due to player personnel.

You can view the result below...

There was a clear winner, but perhaps not the result that many would have expected.

Adidas took the lead in the 33rd minute through Bernardo Silva, with N'Golo Kante notching their second two minutes later.

Paul Pogba then scored the only goal of the second half to give his side a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Messi made his mark, recording two assists and picking up the Man-of-the-Match award.

On Nike's team, no player recorded an average rating of over seven. Their worst player was actually Ronaldo, who picked up a 6.2 rating.

Adidas XI were well worth their win, too.

They had nine more shots than Nike, four more shots on target, created more clear cut chances and recorded more possession.
