Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman aren’t currently scheduled to fight each other, but the tension is certainly building between the two UFC welterweight superstars. The pair, who could meet in the Octagon later this year, nearly came to blows in Miami during a Super Bowl media day event on Wednesday. The welterweight champion approached Masvidal as both fighters conducted interviews on Radio Row and shouted at the Miami native following weeks of back-and-forth trash talk.“Do something!” Usman said per talkSPORT. “That’s all I hear you talking. Do something! You come up talking. Do something!”Masvidal replied: “You got a cast on, b***h. I ain’t going to take advantage of you like that.

“You got a cast on b***h. You lucky. That’s the only reason nothing’s happening.”

Usman (16-1) was wearing a cast on his left hand as he recovers from an injury suffered in his victory over Colby Covington in the UFC 245 main event on December 14.

Masvidal (35-13) is coming off a victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 244 that earned him the “BMF” title on November 2.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ later went on the Joe Rogan podcast to reaffirm his desire to fight ‘Gamebred’ sooner rather than later.

“Give me a month and let this [his arm] heal up. I can make a fist now. I’m cracking,” he said.

“They put out the guys, and let’s be honest, if you look at the division, I’ve beaten almost everybody there in the top 10. It’s a matter of who they really want, what’s next.

“Dana said they really want Jorge. So, Jorge is the next guy.”

With bad blood continuing to flow between them, the appetite for that welterweight showdown is growing, particularly with Masvidal’s popularity at an all-time high.

Conor McGregor is another potential opponent for Usman, after his record-breaking TKO victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on January 19.

One thing is for sure, UFC president Dana White will be laughing all the way to the bank if he can schedule these blockbuster contests in the coming months.
