Everton manager David Moyes is challenging his team to qualify for the Europa League, and wants his side to begin their surge up the Barclays Premier League table with victory over Birmingham City tonight.

The Toffees face City at Goodison Park with just six points separating themselves and Liverpool in sixth, after victory at Newcastle United last weekend.

And despite their inconsistent season thus far, Moyes believes a top six finish is still on the cards.

Moyes said: “I am going to try and do it. I am not sure if it is realistic or not. But we will try to get as high up as we can.

“I want the players to show how good they are and go on a decent run and get a bit of consistency.

“We want to stay away from the bottom end. Certainly if we get another win or two then it will make sure we can’t get pulled back into that. But we have still got a bit of work to do.

“We have won three out of our last four Premier League games so we are doing okay.

“Our players are always good at bouncing back and showing it matters to them. I think the resolve has always been there."
