Manchester United have completed the signing of Odion Ighalo.

The Nigerian international has joined the club on loan from Shanghai Shenhua for the rest of the season.

It was a race against time to get the deal done before the end of the transfer window, but United completed his signing in the nick of time.

According to the Daily Mail, United will contribute £100,000-per-week of that figure while he is on their books. They will also pay a loan fee of between £2m and £4m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been looking for a striker ever since Marcus Rashford went down with a long-term injury earlier this month.

They were linked with a number of forwards on deadline day.

Joshua King, Salomon Rondon and Edinson Cavani are just a few of the names that were being targeted by United.

But, after being rebuffed time and time again, they eventually turned their their attention to securing the services of Ighalo.

The Nigerian striker has had Premier League experience before at Watford.

He had an impressive season in 2015/16, scoring 15 goals in his side's first season back in England's top tier.

Ighalo was unable to replicate that form in his second Premier League season, though, as he scored just once before departing for China in January 2017.

The 30-year-old spent the last three years in China, where he scored 46 times in 72 games.

He will now provide competition with  and Mason Greenwood up front.

United fans will be hoping he can provide the goals needed for United to sneak their way into the Premier League top four.
