Braun Strowman didn't have the greatest of 2019's, and for a while it seemed like WWE had absolutely no clue on what to do with him.

He started the year feuding with Baron Corbin, but by WrestleMania time he was downgraded to the Kick Off Show as he entertained a rivalry with Saturday Night Live comedians Michael Che and Colin Jost.

After coming out on top of a feud with Bobby Lashley, Strowman was then pushed back into the main event against then-Universal Champion Seth Rollins, even winning the Raw Tag Team Titles with him.

But after he was downed by multiple Curb Stomp's at Clash of Champions, Strowman lost yet another title match and then feuded with boxing sensation Tyson Fury - another big match he lost.

The aura surrounding the Monster Among Men was diminishing, and whilst he was still getting big reactions, he wasn't being booked like a monster should be.

But the tide may be turning for Strowman, and it may have started on SmackDown last night.

After defeating Shinsuke Nakamura weeks ago, Strowman was finally given an opportunity at the Japanese star's Intercontinental Championship, which he hasn't defended much of at all.

But even with his stable-mates Sami Zayn and Cesaro at ringside, Nakamura couldn't put down the behemoth.

And an exposed turnbuckle ended up backfiring on Nakamura, who ended up going head-first into the metal, and then was Powerslammed into the mat for the 1-2-3.

Strowman actually got a huge pop for the victory, which is indicative of the popularity he still has despite not being booked correctly at all recently.

And amazingly, it was Strowman's FIRST singles title in his WWE career since he debuted in 2015 after multiple Tag Team Title wins, but you can't argue that he deserves it.

There's now a plethora of challengers who could realistically face Strowman, but a lot of people seemingly want one man only to go to WrestleMania and take him on - and that's Sheamus.

The Intercontinental Championship is the one title that the Celtic Warrior hasn't won yet, and WrestleMania would be a very fitting place for him to try and cap off his illustrious WWE career.
