A lot was expected of Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Given the struggles this season and injuries to a number of key players, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately wanted to strengthen his squad.

By the time the window closed on Friday night, three new names had signed.

Bruno Fernandes was the most high-profile arrival from Sporting Lisbon and he was joined by Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua and goalkeeper Nathan Bishop from Southend.

Arguably, that's pretty decent business from Man United and it should help them compete for a top-four place.

But supporters will always be left feeling that more could have been done - and at the end of this window, that suggestion seems very apt.

According to the Mirror, United were linked with a ridiculous 113 players in January.

Wow. Isn't that just crazy? A massive 113 players had been linked with Man United for a January move.

Just look at some of those names, too. Sancho, Kroos and Richarlison stand out as some of the most ridiculous.

As we all know, the Premier League side made three signings. Just the 110 let downs, then.

Of course, not all of these names were strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it's always interesting to look back and see what could have been.
