Erling Haaland made history in yet another superb performance for Borussia Dortmund in their 5-0 thrashing of Union Berlin on Saturday.

The teenage striker scored the hosts' second and fifth goals to become the first player to net seven times in his opening three Bundesliga appearances.

Haaland's streak kicked off with a 35-minute debut hat-trick away at Augsburg on 18 January, and he followed it up with a brace against Cologne six days later.

Handed his first start since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in January, the 19-year-old Norwegian carried on this weekend to grab another brace in front of Dortmund's Yellow Wall.

In just 136 minutes, he's has set a new standard for what it means to hit the ground running.

Haaland is already the league's joint 10th top scorer, and with the confidence of a 100 per cent shot-to-goal conversion rate behind him, he's sure to rise further up that list as the season moves along.

In fact, the man himself believes he's not even at the peak of his powers after recovering from a knee injury he sustained last month.

“It was pretty tough today, but it was also nice to play from the start,” Haaland told Sky Sports, per BBC Sport.

“I have to get even fitter, I am still not 100 per cent.”

The prospect of Dortmund's latest prodigy having even more to give will send a shiver down the spine of every defender in the Bundesliga.

His blistering form isn't simply a flash in the pan - he scored 16 goals during the first half of the season before making the switch to Signal Iduna Park.

Overall, Haaland has failed to score in only three of the 17 matches he's started this season, while also contributing eight assists in the Austrian top-flight.

Dortmund are yet to profit from his creative abilities as yet, though it won't be hurting his case to lead the line for Lucien Favre's side for the time being.

Die Schwarzgelben are currently third in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, locked in a top-four battle that's separated by a mere three points.

Dortmund travel to Bayer Leverkusen in the league next, and there'll be no prizes for guessing who starts up front for the visitors.
