Dana White has stated Conor McGregor will face the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson, which is scheduled to take place at UFC 249.

McGregor returned to the Octagon with a bang last month after over a year away when he faced Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, as he won via TKO with just 40 seconds gone in the first round.

The win immediately sent Notorious back towards the top of UFC, and several big-name fighters were being linked with him once more including rival Khabib.

However, The Eagle has another fight to think about before a potential second meeting with McGregor, as he will face Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 on April 18.

Speaking on the Jim Rome show, Dana White revealed that McGregor will face the winner of Khabib vs Ferguson later this year.

The UFC President said when asked about the Irishman’s next fight, via talkSPORT: “Probably the winner of Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and Tony [Ferguson].

“Amazing fight. I don’t know [who wins] but you’ve got to give the edge to Khabib. Never lost, undefeated, savage, got to give him the edge.”

This shouldn’t come as a shock to UFC fans, as it’s a fight which McGregor has been lobbying for ever since he lost his first meeting with Khabib back in October 2018.

White also added he’s happy to see Notorious back in UFC and he can’t wait to see his next fight later this year.

He said, via MMA Mania: “He looked unbelievable in this fight. And for people that are saying Cowboy is shot, Cowboy is this—Cowboy is one of the best and one of the baddest to ever do it and he showed up to win that night and Conor McGregor ran through him like a freight train.

“McGregor looks better than he’s ever looked. His head’s in the right place. Mentally, physically and emotionally, he is ready to roll and I can’t wait until his next fight.”

UFC fans could find out who McGregor will be facing next inside the Octagon when Khabib and Ferguson battle on April 18.
