Steven Bergwijn scores screamer on his debut to give Tottenham the lead vs Man City

Bergwijn scored on his Spurs debut

Tottenham vs Manchester City has been perhaps the craziest game of the season so far.

The first half was filled with drama - but more on that later - because we need to talk about Steven Bergwijn's debut goal.

After signing for Spurs last month, the Dutch winger was making his first start against the reigning champions - and he didn't disappoint.

With 63 minutes on the clock, Lucas Moura clipped a ball into Bergwijn on the edge of the box and he connected with a sweet volley to beat Ederson. Check it out below:

Bergwijn, that was beautiful. What a way to mark your debut - and what a game to do it in too.

Spurs may have the lead, but Bergwijn's goal wasn't the only memorable moment from the game.

In the first half, there were five ridiculous minutes of VAR madness.

It started with the technology awarding a penalty two minutes after Serge Aurier had fouled Sergio Aguero inside the box.

There was VAR madness during Spurs vs Man City

Ilkay Gundogan stepped up to take the spot-kick and missed, with Hugo Lloris getting a hand to his effort.

But the drama wasn't done there. Raheem Sterling tried to score the rebound, but went down under contact from the Spurs goalkeeper.

A bit of argy-bargy followed and while that was going on, VAR checked to see if another penalty needed awarding. Thankfully, it didn't. Check out the crazy passage of play below:

Incredible stuff. Man City will regret missing that penalty, especially as Spurs went 2-0 up thanks to a second goal from Son Heung-Min and Oleksandr Zinchenko saw red.

It seems Jose Mourinho was able to mastermind a huge result, with a little help from VAR chaos.
