Liverpool fans want the club to sign Steven Gerrard to lift the Premier League trophy

It’s a matter of when and not if Liverpool win the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are 22 points clear of Manchester City and just need six more wins from their remaining 13 matches to guarantee glory.

Will it happen at Goodison Park? Will it happen at Anfield? Will it happen at the Etihad?

Liverpool fans probably don’t care as long as it happens.

They won’t actually lift the trophy until their final home match against Chelsea on May 9.

Jordan Henderson is probably already practising his now famous ’shuffle’ trophy lift which we’ve seen him produce when lifting the Champions League, Super Cup and World Club Cup.

The midfielder has gone from being completely written off by Liverpool and their fans to being a club hero.

He’s been magnificent this season and fully deserves to be lifting that trophy come May.

However, there are some fans that think someone else deserves it slightly more – Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard came very close to leading Liverpool to Premier League glory but his slip against Chelsea at the end of the 2013/14 season cost Liverpool dearly.

Now supporters want to see Gerrard exorcise those demons and lift the trophy that he desperately wanted to win during his playing days.

A tweet that read: “Sign Gerrard as a free agent for 5 games @LFC” and it went viral.

“Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?” is a chant often heard when rival fans visit Anfield.

Well, there’s one way they can end that chant once and for all…

Of course, it’s never going to happen but Liverpool fans can dream.
