Football is awash with exciting young strikers.

From Kylian Mbappe in France to Erling Haaland in Germany, there is no shortage of rising stars currently destroying defences around Europe.

Perhaps there won’t be a duopoly at the top of the pyramid in the future like we’ve just seen with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but a group of stars constantly doing battle for the biggest trophies and individual accolades.

As transfer fees continue to rise, these players are going to be bought for eye-watering fees.

Mbappe has been linked with a £250 million move to Real Madrid. The sky is the limit.

But would Los Blancos be paying too much for the France international?

Apparently so.

In Transfermarkt's rankings of the most valuable players in the world aged 23 or under, Mbappe is first with a market value of £180m.

Still, it’s an incredible sum of money - and he’s not the only young player with a hefty market value.

Market value: £180 million

A World Cup winner at the age of 19, Mbappe - now 21 - is already a world-class talent with the world at his feet.

2. Lautaro Martinez | Inter Milan | 22

Market value: £72 million

Martinez’s return of 19 goals in 33 matches this season has resulted in links to a £100m move to Barcelona.

3. Marcus Rashford | Manchester United | 22

Market value: £72 million

Rashford has come of age this season, netting 19 times in 31 appearances. He’s the future of Man United and England.

4. Timo Werner | Red Bull Leipzig | 23

Market value: £67.5 million

The German striker fancies a move to Premier League side Liverpool and he would only strengthen the Reds, having scored 25 goals this campaign.

5. Gabriel Jesus | Manchester City | 22

Market value: £63m million

There are still some weaknesses in Jesus’ game but he’s in his fourth season with Man City now and is continuing to develop at an impressive rate.

6. Tammy Abraham | Chelsea | 22

Market value: £45m million

Abraham has rewarded Chelsea boss Frank Lampard for showing faith in him by netting 15 goals in all competitions.

7. Erling Haaland | Borussia Dortmund | 19

Market value: £40.5 million

A market value of just over £40m is ridiculously low for a striker who has scored 35 goals this season, including seven goals in 135 minutes of action for Dortmund.

8. Maxi Gomez | Valencia | 23

Market value: £36 million

Spanish reports claim Man United sent scouts to watch the Uruguayan forward last month. He has nine goals for Valencia in 2019/20.

9. Luka Jovic | Real Madrid | 22

Market value: £36 million

Real Madrid paid £52.4m to sign Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer but he hasn’t delivered, netting just one goal in 21 appearances.

As a result, his market value has dropped by £16.4m.

10. Moussa Dembele | Lyon | 23

Market value: £36 million

It’s surely only a matter of time before Dembele is playing for a top European side.

He has 18 goals for Lyon this season.

11. Moise Kean | Everton | 19

Market value: £28.8 million

Kean has endured a difficult season at Goodison Park, including being substituted off 18 minutes after being brought on against Manchester United in December, but he would still fetch nearly £30m.

12. Victor Osimhen | Lille | 21

Market value: £27 million

Nineteen goals in 35 games is an impressive return for the young Nigerian forward.

Maupay has made the step up to the Premier League with Brighton, who paid £16m to sign him last August, and has seven goals in the top flight.

Market value: £18 million

Young Brazilian striker Pedro joined the Watford setup last month after arriving from Fluminense.

Greenwood is enjoying a breakout campaign at Old Trafford, with 13 goals in 38 appearances.

The 18-year-old has even been tipped to represent England at Euro 2020.

25. Myron Boadu | AZ Alkmaar | 19

Market value: £18 million

Boadu is the top scorer in the Eredivisie with 13 goals. He’s average a goal every 129 minutes in the Dutch top flight.

26. Kasper Dolberg | Nice | 22

Market value: £18 million

The Danish forward has eight goals in Ligue 1 as he continues to adapt in his first season in France.

27. Patrick Cutrone | Fiorentina | 22

Market value: £18 million

Wolves paid £16m to sign Cutrone from AC Milan last summer but he made just nine starts before being loaned to Fiorentina last month.

Fiorentina signed Pedro from Fluminense last September but he was loaned out to Flamengo last month to continue his development.

McBurnie’s first season at Sheffield United has been troublesome.

He was charged with drink-driving in October and was warned by the FA for making a rude gesture towards Cardiff City fans while watching his former team Swansea City play.
