Liverpool host Shrewsbury Town in their FA Cup replay on Tuesday night.

The Premier League leaders were stunned by a second-half comeback from last weekend, with the League One side earning a re-match at Anfield.

It was another moment that proved the magic of the FA Cup, but it's one that created a headache for Jurgen Klopp.

Right now, Liverpool should be on their winter break. In fact, the club's senior players - and even the manager - are.

That means Under-23s boss Neil Critchley will be fielding a young side against Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.

As soon as the first match finished, Klopp confirmed that no senior players would be involved and that's had a massive knock-on effect on their opposition.

According to Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts, it's cost his club over £500,000.

"It is huge. The revenue is vitally important for a club like ours who are self-sustaining," he said ahead of kickoff.

"For someone like us if we are playing Liverpool’s first team you are generating up to £600,000 as opposed to £100,000.

"At a club like ours every penny counts. That is the biggest disappointment that we will lack revenue."

Per the Mirror, because the match at Anfield won't be televised, both teams will miss out on a £75,000 FA live broadcast fee.

Liverpool have also slashed ticket prices in an attempt to encourage more home supporters, with prices as low as £15 for adults and £1 for children.

Those low prices mean Shrewsbury now expect to make between £100,000 to £150,000, rather than over double that, had the first team been playing.

Klopp's decision probably seems rather selfish, if you're a Shrewsbury fan.

"Historically you would say Liverpool away would generate a lot but what we are going to get is very different," Ricketts continued.

"It is an opportunity to build something that lasts us for 10-15 years and is a real legacy. That money could make the pitches better or mean we can get one extra player."

Although Shrewsbury won't make as much money as they were hoping from this FA Cup replay, the winners have Chelsea away in the next round. That one would surely be a bumper payday.
