Real Madrid got the better of their city rivals on Saturday afternoon.

Los Blancos hosted Atletico Madrid needing a win to preserve their lead at the top of the table.

And it was the league leaders that prevailed.

Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes after the break to give his side all three points.

That meant disappointment for Atletico manager, Diego Simeone.

The Argentine was his typical self on the sideline on Saturday.

Simeone is never afraid to show his emotions and was animated on the touchline throughout the game.

And his passion was picked up on by Real Madrid substitutes, Marcelo and Eder Militao.

The Brazilian duo picked up on Simeone going crazy on the touchline numerous times during the match.

And, at one point, they burst out laughing in reaction to Simeone's passion.

Watch it below:

Eder could also be heard speaking to Marcelo about Simeone.

“I’ll give him the ball and he can go play,” he was heard saying, per tribuna.com.

This comment also prompted laughs from Real Madrid's backup goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola.

It appears that both Eder and Marcelo were more entertained with Simeone than the match itself.

It wuld have been interesting to see how Simeone would have reacted should he have caught Marcelo and Eder laughing at him. He probably wouldn't have been too impressed.

That victory gave Zinedine Zidane's side a six-point lead at the top of the table, although that was cut back to three points again when Barcelona narrowly defeated Levante on Sunday.

Atletico, meanwhile, are having a poor campaign.

Simeone's side are languishing down in sixth having accumulated just 36 points from their opening 22 games.

That's 13 points behind their city rivals. With the title race seemingly over for Atletico, they will just be targeting a third place finish and qualification for the Champions League once again.
