Mohamed Salah was at it again on the weekend. The Egyptian forward scored a late brace as Liverpool smashed Southampton 4-0 at Anfield. That means Salah has now notched 18 goals in 33 games this season.Since joining Liverpool in 2017, he has scored a remarkable 89 goals in 137 games. He's also recorded 38 assists.Still only 27 years old, Salah is well on course to become Liverpool's record Premier League goalscorer.

However, for some, that isn't enough.

While Salah has been brilliant again this season, he hasn't been considered Liverpool's best performer.

He hasn't even been branded Liverpool's best attacker, with Sadio Mane also having a wonderful season.

And, despite his unbelievable goalscoring record since joining, Darren Bent believes that Liverpool should consider selling him this summer if Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappe become available.

Bent told talkSPORT: “Listen, we know he [Salah] scores a lot of goals and he is a top, top player.

“Two Golden Boots, Player of the Season, Champions League winner, about to be a Premier League winner, the accolades are there.

“But when you look at his general play to say someone like Mane, I’d have to say Mane’s been better than him.

“He may score more goals than Mane, but Mane’s work-rate for the team, he’s unselfish, always looks for others first, he’ll get his fair share of goals. So you can’t sell Mane, he’s so important.

“Firmino, we know he doesn’t score that many goals, but he’s the glue, he links it all together. His hold-up play is arguably one of the best in the league. He brings players in, holds on to the ball, he’s fantastic.

“So you look at Salah and yes he does score all these goals, but is he really complimenting Mane and Firmino or is he looking for more goals?

“I’ve seen certain situations this season where he should pass it, but he’s shot, and you can see the frustration starting to build.

“It’s not about selling him and getting £100million and that’s it, but if you can replace him with an Mbappe or someone like a Jadon Sancho, I think it’s worth thinking about.”

That does seem harsh on Salah. He's been unbelievable since signing just two years ago.

Yes, getting Sancho would be brilliant. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the world.

But Salah is better than the young English forward at the moment. Liverpool would perhaps be able to afford Sancho without selling Salah, so why not have both?

As for Mbappe, then perhaps Liverpool should consider selling Salah.

Mbappe is already one of the best players in the world and is almost certainly going to win the Ballon d'Or in his career.

He will cost a massive fee and, if getting rid of Salah means getting Mbappe in, Liverpool should consider that.

But just imagine brilliant would it be if Liverpool were able to get Mane, Salah, Firmino and Mbappe in the same team.

Given Mbappe's problems at PSG at the moment, it's a long shot but that could become a reality in the summer.
