Neymar has all the talent in the world.

He's the most expensive footballer of all-time, costing Paris Saint-Germain €222 million in 2017.

When he's on the pitch, the Brazilian can be unplayable. 66 goals and 39 assists in 76 appearances proves that.

But the problem is, he's not actually on the pitch as much as PSG would like.

Neymar has been injured for 58 games since joining in the summer of 2017 and this week, he's going to miss his side's trip to Nantes on Tuesday, taking his total number of absences to 59.

That's 76 matches played and 59 matches missed. Certainly worrying numbers.

But, it seems we could have predicted Neymar will miss PSG's midweek fixture. February 5 is his birthday and being injured on that date is becoming quite the tradition.

He's now been sidelined on his birthday for the last three years.

In 2017, a thigh problem put him in the treatment room, while 12 months later it was a foot injury keeping him on the sidelines.

This year, Neymar will miss PSG's fixture with Nantes due to a minor rib issue - but he is expected back for the weekend.

Are the Brazilian's injuries just a coincidence? Almost certainly, but that won't stop them from becoming a talking point. Especially this year, after Neymar threw a lavish party on Sunday night.

The event, hosted at a Paris nightclub, was attended by a number of friends and teammates.

Despite the squad partying less than 24 hours after a game and 48 hours prior to another, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel said that it won't impact his team selection.

"I always protect my players, and I really love my team. With this party, I accept that it is a bit difficult to protect the players, but the context is not simply black or white," he said, per Goal.

"Is it the best way to prepare for a match? No, clearly not. Is it the worst thing in the world? No.

"It is a shame because we are giving people the chance to speak badly of us.

"We need to adapt to the situation, but I am not going to leave a player on the bench or at home because they went out and celebrated."

It sounds like he's just given up with trying to stop his players occasionally partying, and we can't really blame him.

The only man who definitely will be sitting the game out is Neymar because, for the third year in a row, he's injured on his birthday.

Make of that what you will.
