24/7 reports that Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra will be made available for transfer at the end of the current season.

The news is likely to alert a number of potential suitors who have declared an interest in the French international, with Liverpool the leading contenders for the player’s signature.

Diarra’s agent last month dismissed claims that his player would leave the Bernabeau for Anfield or anywhere else, citing that the £15million rated star was happy in the Spanish capital.

But with Madrid president Florentino Perez planning on major changes in the summer, Diarra’s future looks increasingly insecure, despite having featured more frequently in Jose Mourinho’s side over the past few weeks.

Kenny Dalglish has hinted that player additions will be made at the first opportunity in the summer, and a defensive midfielder is thought to be high on the agenda with Christian Poulsen yet to convince the Reds boss that he's the long-term answer at Liverpool.

Diarra is accustomed to the Barclays Premier League having spent time at Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth - something that King Kenny would look favourably upon as he looks to strengthen his Anfield squad.

In addition to being a tough tackler, the 25-year-old Frenchman would also provide the Reds with some additional creativity in midfield.

And having proved in January that they are willing to spend money in the transfer market, Dalglish could once again turn to Liverpool owners NESV in a bid to bring in further reinforcements.
