Footage has emerged of current UFC Lightweight champion in a professional MMA fight displaying frequent, vicious headbutts to his opponent.

“The Eagle” used his head multiple times when wrestling his opponent on the floor, however, this was at a time where using your head as shown in the video below was completely legal in competition.

In this particular fight, Khabib used his head as a battering ram, constantly hitting his opponent Ali Bagov, while grappling with him on the floor in typical Khabib style.

This was back in 2010 in a Golden Fist Russia event in the capital of Moscow where Khabib was eventually victorious by unanimous decision, taking his record to 8-0.

All Khabib’s brutal strikes were legal at this time as the UFC operated with a limited rule set in the early 1990's, and hair pulling, groin strikes and headbutting were allowed until years later.

Since then, rules have seriously changed in the sport of MMA, but one thing hasn’t changed, the Russian remains an unstoppable force, still unbeaten as a professional.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is now well established as one of the best MMA fighters ever with a faultless, undefeated record of 28-0.

His most impressive high-profile victories have been in his last few professional fights, racking up wins against some of the best fighters in the UFC, including Dustin Poirier and Conor Mcgregor.

Khabib’s next opponent at UFC 249 is American fighter Tony Ferguson who is one of the best ever fighters in the Lightweight division.

There has already been plenty of talk that Conor Mcgregor will fight the winner of this matchup, setting up a potential rematch against bitter rival Nurmagomedov.

"Khabib and Tony will fight in Brooklyn, and Conor will probably fight the winner," White told ESPN.

"Conor's talking about not wanting to wait that long, I don't know what else makes sense, but who knows with that kid.”

Everyone wants to see the rematch between Mcgregor and Khabib, but the Russian will have to see off the veteran Ferguson first.
