Barcelona are in a mess right now.The club’s director, Eric Abidal, probably didn’t realise the furore he was about to create when he gave an exclusive interview with Sport earlier this week.“Many players were not satisfied or didn’t work hard and there was also an internal communication issue,” the former Barca left-back said.“The relationship between manager and dressing room has always been good, but there are things that I can smell as a former player.“I told the club what I thought and had to make a decision.”

What Abidal probably didn’t expect is for Lionel Messi to respond.

The Argentine superstar posted his reply on Instagram saying: “I honestly don’t like to do these things but I think everyone has to be responsible for their tasks and take care of their decisions.

“The players for what happens on the pitch, and we are also the first to acknowledge when we were not good.

"Those responsible for the area of sports management must also assume their responsibilities and above all take charge of the decisions they make.

“Finally, I think that when talking about players, we should give names because otherwise we are getting everyone dirty and feeding things that are said and are not true.”

Some reports are suggesting Abidal could be now be sacked.

It’s not the first time Messi’s actions have suggested that he’s not particularly happy.

Deportes Cuatro has spotted what the Argentine did before his side’s loss to Valencia that apparently shows that Messi is “fed up with the board of Josep Maria Bartomeu.”

The report states that at the end of every warm-up before each match, Barcelona players have a huddle.

However, during the 2-0 defeat at the Mestalla on January 25, Messi refused to get involved as Gerard Pique and Antoine Greizmann began their huddle.

Instead, Messi walked straight down the tunnel after clearly exchanging a few frosty words with Pique.

What was that all about?

He’s clearly not happy with something at the club as Quique Setien’s side trail Real Madrid by three points in La Liga.
