A quadricep injury could cause Australia forward Sam Kerr to miss at least one of her country's 2020 Olympic qualifying games.

Kerr, who joined Chelsea in January, scored her first goal for Emma Hayes' side in a 4-1 Women's Super League win over Arsenal on January 19.

The 26-year-old will miss her club's WSL game against Manchester United on February 9 due to international commitments.

However, the Matildas' captain, who has scored 38 times in 83 appearances for them - might not be able to play all three of Australia's Tokyo 2020 qualifying games due to a knock to her quadricep - these fixtures come within a five-day period.

"I'm not going to be taking any risks. It's day to day, really. Said Kerr.

"I've got the best medical staff I could probably have working with me and it feels really good today, but I've got a fair bit to get through until Friday.

"I’d be lying if I said I’d probably play all three (games), but I don’t think many players will play all three this week.

"I just want to get it right and make sure the team has everyone on the field that’s fit and ready to go and that they’re not really carrying anyone."

Australia play their first qualifying game against Taiwan on Friday, before facing Thailand on Monday and then their final fixture is on Wednesday when they take on China.

All of these fixtures were set to be played in Wuhan, China - but due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the city - the fixtures have been moved to Nanjing.

The striker will be hoping to be available for Hayes' squad selection for the Blues' FA Cup fifth-round tie against Liverpool on February 16.
